How to Turn Procrastination into Productivity
Hey! How are you? Our discussion today, would enlighten both you the reader, and i the writer, on the ways we can transform the bad habits of procrastination into productivity. We`ve all been there, staring at formidable task, while finding every excuse to postpone it. Procrastination, isn`t just a bad habit, it`s a challenge rooted in fear, and perfection. There`s a reason it`s easy to say I'll do it later, than to say I'll do it now. But wait! there`s a good news. Procrastination with the right mindset, and strategies, could be transformed into productivity. This article should show us how to turn a wasted time, into a purposeful action.
Let`s dive in!!
Sir Isaac Newton, a physicist in the early 1700`s created a theory called " the law of causes and effect". I won`t digress, but the ideal point too is that there is a cause for procrastination. There`s a reason why people do it quite often. Sometimes the root causes, could be fear of failure, overwhelming tasks, or even perfectionism. In all honesty, there is no "right moment" to do a task. Matter of fact, the right moment is now. Avoiding tasks, could only give you short term relief, but it fortifies delay, thereby causing long term stress. Given the fact that there`s no right moment for any opportunity, how can you then turn procrastination into productivity? I`ve deduced some strategies to turn challenges into productivity.
They are;
- Break it down: In some occurrence, big tasks could feel overwhelming. Split those large tasks into smaller, manageable tasks. Completing a small portion build momentum and self confidence.
- Set distinct goals: Vague intentions, often lead to procrastination. You have to be intentional, and set clear, and actionable goals with deadlines. Instead of saying " i will do it later", you could replace that with " i should finish it by 3pm."
- Identify your peak productivity hours: Each person has times during the day, or at night, when they`re more productive. Identifying these periods, could be life changing, as you could even be able to 10x your productivity. Schedule tasks at these periods, for maximum efficiency.
- Eliminate distractions: Sufficient work could be achieved, by eliminating distractions. Minimize distractions, by silencing notifications, or dedicating a work space to yourself.
- Reframe your mindset: To achieve professionality, you have to constantly do the same thing over, and over, and over. View tasks as opportunities to do more. Shift from "i have to do this" to "i get to do this"
